INSPIRATION
Mary gains inspiration from her many travels drawing inspiration from texture, colour and pattern in the landscape, architecture and crafted objects. Mary also finds new media and processes fuel her work and she often responds to the brief in an intuitive way. Her work is abstract, free and multi layered. She has a wide range of textile techniques at her fingertips.
Mary uses a combination of machine and hand stitch on hand dyed or painted fabric, threads and papers. She also uses printing, embossing, needle felting, with an embelisher and the work is often finished with hand stitching and beading. Mary keeps up todate with new techniques and ideas and is a member of several textile groups. Please see link to groups below:
